Formerly Virginia Park Golf Club, its current moniker was adopted in the 1950s. Notable professionals like Gary Player and Bobby Verwey began their careers here. Hosting the South Downs Ryder Cup since 1989, the tournament sees South Africa face Portugal in a prestigious event featuring morning foursomes and afternoon singles and doubles matches. In 2019, South Africa secured their second consecutive victory. Known as "The city course with a country feel," South Downs offers a challenging yet beginner-friendly Parklands layout, spanning 6239 meters with 18 bent-grass greens.
