Modderfontein Golf Course consistently ranks among South Africa's top 60, spanning 6651 meters with a par of 72. Nestled in a picturesque parkland, it features firm greens and tree-lined fairways, offering a challenging yet rewarding experience. Hosting numerous prestigious amateur tournaments annually, it attracts over 40,000 rounds of golf yearly. Situated in the heart of Gauteng, this hidden gem is a harmonious sanctuary for golf enthusiasts. Established in 1894 as an outpost, Modderfontein Golf Course has deep historical roots, originating from the Modderfontein Dynamite Factory, the world's largest dynamite company. Designed by Arthur Tomsett and opened by Bobby Locke in 1935, it underwent a redesign in 1990 by Hugh Baiocchi, incorporating 7 dams and 12 streams for year-round water supply. With 12 holes featuring water hazards, each offering a unique challenge, Modderfontein Golf Course provides an unforgettable golfing experience amidst its rich history and natural beauty.
