Unveiling the Legacy: CMR Golf Course - Where History and Golfing Excellence Converge

CMR Golf Course traces its roots back to the late 19th century, emerging from the landscape shaped by gold mining in South Africa. Initially established as a nine-hole course on land owned by the mining company, CMR gradually expanded under the stewardship of Mine Managers like Mr. C H Spencer and Mr. J E Healey. By the 1930s, it evolved into an 18-hole course, adorned with thousands of trees like Bluegums and Pines. The club's journey saw transformations, including the construction of a new clubhouse in 1938 and later renovations in the mid-1980s. Notable personalities such as Frank Abnett and Don Ellmore left indelible marks on CMR's history, contributing to its vibrant golfing community. Through changes in ownership and committee structures, CMR Golf Course persevered, driven by a pioneering spirit that continues to define its legacy.
